Money raised in two major events, one in the Spring and one in the Fall, are the major sources of the funds the Cherry Blossom Breast Cancer Foundation uses to help local women, although donations by Board members and other generous people constitute an aditional 10 or so percent. In each of the last several years about $150,000 has been raised to fund our grants.

In October 2007, we started Middleburg’s Nanette’s Walk and 5K Run. With the sponsorship of Middleburg Bank in 2010 we expanded the event to conduct three simultaneous Cherry Blossom Walks, Fun Runs, and Pooch Prances in Middleburg, Warrenton and Leesburg.

This year, on April 23, Oatlands Plantation in Leesburg, VA was be our spring fundraiser event site. The fall event took place on October 15, at Foxcroft School in Middleburg, VA. Sponsorships of these events range from $15,000 down to $500. Please help us acheive our goal by becoming a sponsor!

Each Spring, the Foundation also conducts the Cherry Blossom Champion Award event, where we honor one or more local individuals or organizations who have contributed to the detection, treatment, elimination, or education of breast cancer.

Other smaller fundraisers by the Foundation and by outside supporters generate lower funding, but great publicity for the local fight against breast cancer. In the past polo and wine benefits by local groups and businesses have been arranged, and in 2013, a performance by the young Middleburg musician, Tenzin Tognini, raised money in honor of his grandmother who has breast cancer.

The Foundation encourages those interested in the local fight against breast cancer to work with us to originate new fundraising events.
